Downtown Burlington

The Church Street Marketplace is a four-block pedestrian mall in the heart of downtown Burlington. It offers a variety of shops featuring apparel, furniture, books, sporting goods, jewelry and gifts. Shopping includes national chain apparel shops. Visitors can find a variety of cuisine including Italian, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, and American. Interspersed are coffee houses and sidewalk cafes. Shops line intersecting streets. The Marketplace also includes the two-level Burlington Square Mall, which features local and national retailers. There is one small supermarket on Cherry Street.

 

Ethan Allen Shopping Center, North Avenue in the New North End of Burlington.

This shopping center features a large supermarket, pharmacy, hardware store, movie theater and bowling lanes. It is located in the heart of the growing New North End.

 

University Mall, South Burlington. Also nearby shopping centers lining Dorset Street and Williston Road in South Burlington.

The University Mall on Dorset Street features dozens of nationally owned clothing, appliance, home furnishings, sporting goods, music and other shops. Also major department stores, a fast-food restaurant court and large supermarket. Nearby shopping centers feature a book store, natural food store, apparel, home furnishings and gift shops. Also, supermarkets.

 

Taft Corners, intersection of U.S. 2 and Vermont 2A, Williston.

Big-box discount national retail stores in a cluster of shopping centers off Interstate 89

Exit 12 and at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Vermont 2A. Taft Corners Shopping Center features smaller shops including eateries, apparel, dry cleaning, and a nearby French-style bakery and cafe. There is a supermarket in a shopping center on Vermont 2A. Nearby are offices of United Parcel Service and Federal Express.

 

The Outlet Fair, Vermont 15, Essex Junction

A variety of national outlet stores.

 

Downtown Winooski, Main Street and West Canal Street. The Champlain Mill on Vermont 15 offers an indoor shopping center featuring apparel and gift shops, restaurants and home furnishings at the site of one of the city’s original textile mills. Downtown Winooski also offers supermarkets and restaurants.

 

Local town centers

Many Chittenden County towns have thriving commercial village centers. Essex Junction

provides residents a variety of shopping opportunities both at its five corners intersection, and at the various Susie Wilson Road shopping centers. They provide services ranging from health and fitness clubs to apparel shops to supermarkets. Colchester continues to sprout a scattering of shopping centers that include supermarkets, apparel, pharmacy, gardening and home decorating stores. Shelburne village contains a drive-in shopping center whose centerpiece is the Shelburne Supermarket, a popular grocery store for residents of the southern towns of Chittenden County because of its produce, wines and other discerning offerings. Richmond and Hinesburg villages offer residents local grocery stores, video rental shops, restaurants and other services that allow residents to avoid having to travel far afield for basic amenities. Milton’s commercial center has also grown; it features a full-service supermarket, bagel shop and other amenities.

Onion River Food Co-op, 274 North Winooski Ave., Tel: 863-3659 offers a wide variety of organic and natural foods, including a well-stocked fresh produce area and bulk area, organic wines, canned and packaged foods, and frozen free-range poultry.
