The Town of St. Albans Town:
The fastest growing community in Franklin County between 1990 and 1996, St. Albans Town surrounds St. Albans City and features a range of employment and recreational opportunities. The St. Albans Town Industrial Park houses Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc.'s largest ice cream manufacturing plant. It is also home to the Vermont Science and Education Center, which opened in 1997 as a unique partnership between the business and educational communities. With Lake Champlain as a prime resource, recreational facilities abound. They include Kamp Kill Kare State Park, which serves as a gateway to Burton Island State Park. The community's annual 4th of July celebration - Bay Day - attracts thousands to St. Albans Bay, while the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail, a former rail bed converted into a recreation path, begins at the St. Albans City-Town line and runs 26 miles northeast to Richford. The paved portions of the four-seasons path are used for bicycling, jogging, in-line skating and walking in summer. The whole path is open for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in winter.
