For two years after he arrived in Morristown in 1790, Jacob Walker remained this town's only resident. Today about 5,000 people call this community home, and the village of Morrisville (within the town of Morristown) serves as the regional center for commerce, services and regional state offices. It is also the growing industrial center of the county. Several businesses with global distribution call the Lamoille Industrial Park home. Forestry and maple production are traditional enterprises in this town of pasture and large forest tracts. Now they have been joined by companies such as Turtle Fur, maker of fleece outerwear, and Concept II, maker of rowing machines and oars for 90 percent of the world-class sculling and crew competitors.
