Jericho Census 2000 Story

The Town of Jericho:
This might be one of the few Chittenden County towns that spawned a world-famous
artist: Native son Wilson "Snowflake" Bentley photographed crystals
of precipitation in the late 1800s. Jericho's other great claim to fame
is the rustic grist mill, circa 1850, that is designated as a National
Historic Site. At 22,656 acres, the village is quickly evolving from a
farming enclave with a skyline of white church spires. Despite rapid population
growth, Jericho still prides itself on the kind of hometown friendliness
that prompted Snowflake Bentley to pursue another favorite photographic
subject: He used his camera to capture people's smiles.
