Chartered in 1763, Georgia takes pride in its history and has an active historical society and local museum with a genealogical research component. Its seven miles of shoreline along Lake Champlain make the "Georgia Shore" a busy place in summertime and a prime spot to view sunsets over the Adirondack mountains. Although the town is a bedroom community for many who work in Chittenden County, about two dozen dairy farms and the Georgia Regional Dairy Industrial Park are mainstays of the local economy. The largest employer is Wyeth Nutritional Inc., an infant formula manufacturer.
