PARKS

Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area: A navigable creek of about 10 miles between the Vergennes area and Addison. The creek is at the heart of a 2,814-acre refuge and is best seen by canoe. There are spectacular views of clouds of migratory birds passing through in spring and fall especially from the state road, locally called Goose Viewing Road, off Vermont Route 17 West.

Snake Mountain, Mountain Road: The trail head to this family-oriented hike is on the west side of the mountain off Vermont Route 22a and Willmarth Rd. It takes under two hours to hike to the summit, enjoy wonderful views to the west, then hike back.
